Rocketpack Johnson! What's This Thing About?!
Premise:
Chris Johnson was your normal, everyday dock worker at the Portsworth City docks. By day, he moved fish from boats to baskets. But by night, he was an avid electrician and self-taught engineer. He'd tinker for hours in his makeshift workshop, trying to build incredible inventions to help future generations... He was also pretty much flat broke and hoped to hell one of these inventions would catch on so he could move up town.
Then one day, it hit. He created the world's first self-contained rocket pack. He decided he'd do the big unveiling of his invention in a public setting to draw as much attention as he could to it. So he flew it down in the middle of a holiday parade.
Then, disaster struck! Just before Rocketpack Johnson landed, Bill Roboman Ph.D. and his army of robots attacked city hall and the crowds gathered at the parade. When Chris landed in his rocketpack, everyone assumed he was a superhero sent to save the city from Roboman. Reluctantly, he fought off the invading automatons and stopped Bill Roboman Ph.D.; in essence becoming the city's savior.
Rocketpack Johnson was born.
The Story:
Every issue of Rocketpack Johnson is a self-contained battle with a vicious supervillain, but with small hints to the larger plot of the mastermind behind all the attacks. Basically, you can walk into Rocketpack Johnson at anytime and not be scared away by years and years of intricate character relationships, confusing histories and so on. This is a reader friendly book.
The story is this: Baron Von Dusseldorff has assembled a giant group of supervillains in an attempt to take over Portsworth City. Each has his or her own motivations and personalities and it's up to Rocketpack Johnson to use his brains and rocketpack to save the city.
Book One is the battle against the Time Bender, a man with complete control over the very fabric of time itself... or so it seems. As the battle rages on, it becomes apparent to Rocketpack Johnson that the vile Time Bender is sending his time-altering requests to another person... The Time Bender's very own Brother!!! Locked away somewhere in an abandoned warehouse, the Time Bender's Brother controls the time machines his brother uses to enslave the city. It's up to Rocketpack Johnson to urge The Time Bender's Brother toward the side of good.
Book Two finds Rocketpack Johnson battling the mad Long John Silver, a man sailing a Ghost Pirate Ship through the streets of Portsworth City, holding the populace ransom.
Book Three introduces The Evaporator, a man capable of drawing the very moisture from a living creature's body, turning them to dust.
There are many more villains where these came from, and Rocketpack Johnson is the only man that can stop them.
